Porky Pies of the Lens

Up until recently the saying went; ‘The camera never lies.’  Well it does actually.  The amount of airbrushing involved in media pictures is shocking.  Sometimes they do it to make the subject look good.

And sometimes they do it to make the object look bad.

#8 You've Got Balls

Sat, 24/10/2015 - 16:02 -- Name: helen

Yes you do and the strength to take responsibility for your future health.  The courage to go against the ‘corporate spin doctors’ that would have you believe that fat free is the way to go.  The tenacity to get yourself off your sugar addiction. Supported or not, you’ve got balls.

Well done for getting to 8 weeks of sugar freedom.  Like I said, this isn't an 8 week challenge.  The 8 weeks is for you to get away from your sugar addiction.  Cleanse your body of the inflammatory and artery hardening stuff so that you are balanced, healthier, sharper and fitter for the long term.

Welcome to the 'Spring your Skin into Summer' challenge 2017.

#7 Power to the Sugar Freedom People

Fri, 16/10/2015 - 23:05 -- Name: helen

We’re nearly there and I hope you can feel it.

Your jeans should be fitting you a little better.  You’re energy, appetite and hormones should be more balanced.  And the thing I love the best.....exercise is actually paying off.

It’s great that spring is finally here.  Daylight savings giving us extra energy and some nice weather to go out and enjoy.  If you’ve been very overweight before your journey to sugar freedom, you should now be finding movement easier.  And hopefully you don’t recoil anymore at the thought of exercise.

#6 The Hangover Part 6

Sat, 10/10/2015 - 14:53 -- Name: helen

No I didn’t go to Vegas and accidentally acquire Mike Tyson’s Tiger, or get my face tattooed in Bangkok.  Something far worse…I had a birthday and decided to relax the sugar ban.  Too soon I’m afraid.  I should have waited till after the 8 weeks for true sugar freedom.  Now I have crashed and it really does muck things up.

I didn’t over indulge, and I’m pleased to say that after 6 weeks I wasn’t able to be a ‘sugar fiend.’  But the simple carbohydrates, bread, pasta and rice were rather easy to ingest.

#4 The Sugary Woods

So how's everyone going?  I'd say that this is a wobbler week for me.  If you're not feeling wobbly about your journey to sugar freedom, then well done you.  If you have slipped, forget about that.  Jump back in, you'll do better this time.  And if you're teetering on having a wobble, don't think, just get one of your frozen wonders out really quick,  heat and eat.  As soon as you take your hunger away, you'll be fine and you should feel proud of your self.

#3 Aren't we a clever lot.

OK, who got a headache in that first week?  And who managed to cook their little hearts out last weekend to get them through the week?  Who didn't quite make enough and then realised that it's really hard to get a quick lunch from ANYWHERE that doesn't include sugar or simple carbs?  Here's some ammo to keep you on the straight and narrow this week.

#2 Roll Up Your Sleeves.

Fri, 11/09/2015 - 09:30 -- Name: helen

It's time to get prepping.  This week is probably going to be the hardest it will get on the journey to sugar freedom and giving your body the best chance to be healthy.

#1 Fat and Hungry

Wed, 02/09/2015 - 14:48 -- Name: helen

Add to that title, Groggy.

How can you be gorging yourself of food and be more hungry at the same time?

So this is what has happened.  I gave up sugar for four months.  My body was a temple.  I hadn’t changed my exercise routine but all of a sudden it was paying off.  My energy was balanced.  My metabolism was balanced.  Best of all my hormones were balanced which of course balanced my skin.  RESULT!

Honestly I could feel those extra podgy bits just come away within the first week of my no sugar diet.  ONE WEEK!  Goodbye love handles and double chin.
